Design as Nature Intended
Operating since 2005, Lysergy GardenScapes had been engaging with clients and tending to their outdoor environments using sustainable, therapeutic and educational practices. Owner Alyssa Dawn Hall wanted to celebrate her 10 years in business with a new and professional name and brand image for her growing company. She engaged Backyard Creative to lead her through the branding process.
The original business name, Lysergy, was intended to be a combination of Alyssa’s first name and the word “Synergy”, but it was often misunderstood. After many discussions about the company’s goals and its target clientele, the business name was refreshed and simplified to Alyssa Dawn GardenScapes. Since “Alyssa Dawn” was already nature inspired, we recommended focusing on this existing strength.
Alyssa is one of those people who others love to be around—she’s positive, knowledgeable, genuine, and radiates energy. She lives and breathes her brand attributes. Without intending to, she says nature-inspired things such as, “naturally, I like this one,” and, “it dawned on me.” When she spoke about her business objectives and used the phrase, “Gardening as nature intended,” we captured and recommended the phrase as her tagline, as it really resonates with her mission.
We created a company logo that also feels nature inspired. Hand-drawn in pen and ink, the icon shows a relationship of balance without perfection, and of symmetry without rigidity: it implies a human touch without the human being the main focus. We paired the icon with a font that feels a lot like Alyssa’s own handwriting, and applied a more utilitarian font for body copy. Refining and finessing both her business name and her service areas allowed us to create a brand that truly captured the spirit of her company. We look forward to hearing about Alyssa’s next 10 years in business!
