Discovering Vericatch Solutions

It’s so much fun when we get to dive deep into a new client’s communications challenges to discover solutions.

The folks at Vericatch engaged us earlier this year to provide consulting services as they took on some important brand strategy work to better position their growth. They came to us after seeing our work with SeaChoice, whom we supported with a new website, and logo refinements. We also designed their Seafood Progress sub-site and enhanced the back end functionality.

Vericatch creates fish catch reporting and seafood traceability software to empower sustainable fisheries with data-driven decision-making. They produce two distinct software products, each with unique branding. Our goal was to help Vericatch create efficiencies and clarity for their value proposition and communications.

Gathering Essential Data

We knew we’d be going through a lot of data that could take us down time-consuming information rabbit holes. Our approach was to collectively identify two project focus questions up front. This helped us filter and structure our information gathering, and stay within their ideal budget.

We did a lot of research to understand Vericatch’s business, target audiences and competitors, and the company’s place in the fishing industry. We also did a mini-brand audit to help us see the relationship between all the VeriCatch brands and their online presence.

A virtual discovery session with Vericatch’s executive team provided great insights on their current business and communications strategies and challenges. Exploring brand positioning examples with visuals allowed us to consider the pros and cons of potential approaches together.

Making Actionable Recommendations

After the information gathering phase, we analyzed our research and session outcomes and produced the recommendations document. We identified all the interesting themes that emerged from our research, conducted a SWOT analysis, and reflected our observations.

The final document reflected a clear set of recommendations and the benefits of each. We also delivered a balance of actionable recommendations they could implement immediately, and more longer-term recommendations.

The Vericatch team was pleased with our recommendations. “Everything you laid out was super helpful and clear… we found your report incredibly forthright and helpful. I’m really glad we worked with you guys and look forward to implementing some of your advice,” said Dalal Al-Abdulrazzak, Vericatch’s Business Developer/Chief Science Officer. We’re looking forward to seeing how the Vericatch brand evolves, knowing we played a part in their success!
