I think it’s fair to say 2020 has been the weirdest and hardest year most of us have ever lived through.
When life stopped abruptly in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone on the planet was left wondering what was next for their lives, families, jobs, businesses and communities.
With so much uncertainty this year, we focused on moving forward what we could, taking things day by day, staying connected, and sharing our gratitude. Since our team of collaborators works virtually already, it felt like people were joining our world when everyone began working remotely.
We tried each day to deliver our best work despite the circumstances. Our monthly virtual picnics became bi-weekly for a while. We gave each other pep talks and support, and shared much-needed laughs. And we talked a lot about the many things we could be grateful for, even in challenging times.
Our team of collaborators has also evolved. We said goodbye to Sebastian and Sofia (we wish you both all the best, we’ll miss you!) And we welcomed our newest collaborator, web programmer Krisztina Kun. We worked with Krisztina to rebrand Decoda Literacy Solutions, and to design and program their new website (coming soon!)
We’re proud that we were able to use our creative work to help our clients make an impact and amplify their missions during this critical year.
Some highlights included:
Georgia Strait Alliance: Impact Report Design
We were excited to start working with the GSA this year. We supported their important mission to protect the waters in the Georgia Strait for many years before our collaboration, through our annual 1% for the Planet contribution.
LOCOBC: BC Buy Local Campaign Design
Supporting local businesses became an even more popular theme this year. It’s a topic we’ve been passionate about for a while. We helped with COVID-19 recovery efforts by designing a reopening campaign in the spring, and the BC Buy Local week campaign in December. We donated some of our work time through our Good Neighbour Award.
Trailmark Systems: Infographic Design
Designing an infographic for Trailmark gave them a visual structure to help their client, a First Nations group, track cumulative effects on their lands.
Vericatch: Brand Consulting
We began working with Vericatch to support their impact in the sustainable fisheries industry. They’ve gone through some extreme growth this year (exciting!) We worked with them to get their visual house in order with a brand discovery, graphic standards guide and templates to help establish a brand foundation for further expansion.
Watersheds BC: Report Design
Our values aligned well with Watersheds BC’s mission. They work with local communities across the province to secure sustainable watersheds. The reports we worked on illustrate how design can be used to bring information to life and deepen impact.
We hope you have a happy holidays and we look forward to connecting with you in the new year!
