Backyard Creative worked with Annick Press to design an engaging and educational memoir about a young Inuit girl who goes to residential school in the Northwest Territories. The story was written by Christy Jordan-Fenton and Margaret Pokiak-Fenton. Striking illustrations by Liz Amini-Holmes, paired with real-life photos and facts, help teach the reader about this real-life Canadian story. Fatty Legs has received multiple awards, including one of the Ten Best Children’s Books of 2010 (The Globe and Mail), and a Bronze Award in the Children’s / Young Adult Book: Non-Illustrated category from the 2011 PubWest Book Design Awards.
