Graphic Designer Extraordinaire
Hello! My name is Keiko Lee-Hem and I’m a graphic designer, artist, maker, mama, wanna-be back-to-the-lander and consummate entrepreneur. My natural creative flames were stoked while studying Fine Arts at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. The seeds of graphic design and writing were sown and tended through Langara College’s Publishing Program.
Over the years I’ve worked for some awesome individuals and organizations, all of whom have helped me hone my strategic business brain and design acumen. I love working with people who are passionately pursuing their dreams, care deeply about their mission and are here to make a difference.
What is in your backyard?
In the winter, just a couple feet of snow, but in the summer? Fruit trees, a huge veggie garden, two greenhouses, a pond, a sandbox and most recently, chickens!
How are you creative when you’re away from your work?
I cook wonderful wholesome meals straight from the garden (when the season permits), and every once in a while, I find a window of time to paint or carve a lino block print.
If you could only wear one colour for a week what would it be?
My practical answer is black. My “who cares if I look good while I’m doing it” answer is YELLOW!
